The President has sent out the pairings for this Saturday’s Cedar Club Men’s Club Championship. It promises to be an interesting all-day event with partly sunny skies, a cool temp of 41, and some breezy weather on tap. “Interesting” because some of the Club’s top players are curiously absent, including top seeds Eric Arvold, Sean Cooley, Peter Drake — even fan favorite Steve “Squirrel” Mayer. (not so curiously, perpetual no-shows Mike Deam and Mike Lynch).
This brings the spotlight back to 3-time Club Champion Brett “Duke” Smith as an early favorite. Especially since his club ranking dropped to 9th which should mean his B-pairing will be stronger (is that correct Mr. Klafke?). However, there are four Club Champions playing (Dan Einhorn, Mike Farley, Beany Welch and Andrew Bayliss — the defending champion) in a field of 36 players who would like to get back to the podium.
President Dale Borowiak seeded the tournament and sent out a mistaken draw until revisions were made behind closed doors. He was not available for comment.
The corrected draw is attached.

You take liberty with “Club Champion”. A “Fall ClassicChamp” is not a “Club Champion” until they win the Club Championship. Such as Bayliss. He is a 2 time Fall Classic Champ, but I am pretty sure he hasn’t won the Club Championship yet. Brock won it last year.
OKAY MR. FARLEY LETS HAVE A CHAT!!
The multiple incorrect draws I can tolerate…
The non-functional link in the ‘corrected’ email, I can tolerate…
Being omitted as an early favorite in the blog, I can tolerate…
Being omitted from the previous champions list, I can tolerate…
Not being put on a plaque as the REAL CHAMPION OF LAST YEARS CLUB CHAMPTIONSHIP (w/ mr. Nye as my partner), now a FULL YEAR LATER, I can tolerate…
But crowning Mr. Nice Guy AKA Duke Junior AKA Cedar Club Sweetheart Mr. Bayliss as last year’s champion I CANNOT TOLERATE!!!!!!
So here you go Mr. Farley AKA Shooter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G52aaTFibHo
Good luck getting forehand opportunities!
Dale sent out the mistaken draw????
Cedar Club Sweetheart eh?
Goal tomorrow just changed from winning the tournament (as usual) to making sure I never hear that again. Maybe I’ll drop my usual paddle forehand and actually hit some big ones.
This is really funny. Making my St. Paddy’s Day.
Oh no. I poked the bear. Sorry folks…
See y’all tomorrow!
Mr. Farley regrets that an error was made in this blog post. Although the always lovable Andrew Bayliss was indeed, the 2016 Fall Champion, he has not yet won the Men’s Club Championship. Tom Nye should have been reported as last year’s Champion.
