Open Paddle
For the newbies, Saturday Open Paddle is a real thing where a dozen+ people show up Sat. to play, it’s been under way and is booked for the next two Saturdays as well, 10am-1pm. If you are new to the game, get out there and play. You don’t know it yet, but you suck. If you’re sponsoring someone, make them come to open paddle or setup matches. Not a great look if you’re playing while everyone else is cleaning this Saturday, but you do you. Oct 4 will be a busy one!
League Numbers
The Cedar Club is set up for another great season! We have 70 players returning from last season and currently have 80 committed league players, right in the sweet spot for a full ladder with room for maybe a couple more players.
Match Sch(m)eduling
Schmeeds is again the administrator of league scheduling and the S.H.I.T. ranking system. We are going to start everyone with 85 points of separation. We usually do 100, last year 75. Pros and cons to both, we think 85 will be the best of both worlds, ladder fluidity without extreme volatility. Schmeeds will send a separate communication, since half the league won’t have read this far, asking for your scheduling requests. If you have legitimate needs that Schmeeds and the rest of the club need to accommodate in order for you to play, let Brad know. If you just have a personal preference, that’s not really what this is for. (schmeeds@hotmail.com)
Need Paddle Gear this season??
I’m happy to announce we are soon to be set up as a Xenon distributor, so you will be able to buy paddles and shoes directly from The Cedar Club at a discount. We’ll probably do a bulk order on Oct. 17 to cut down shipping costs. This gives everyone 2 weeks to demo, and gear should arrive by week 3. More on this to come, but feel free to try out the demo paddles to figure out what you like. Please leave the demos on the counters by the windows. There are three there now, and three more paddles and a pair of shoes are coming. No, they don’t offer a 6 month warranty.
Cedar Club hosted by Cutters Rule Podcast
Genuinely hate to post this and call attention to my sub par podcast performance. But alas, Cutters Rule podcast started a series called “Hut Sweat and Tears” and chose The Cedar Club to be their first episode. Tune in here for youtube or find the podcast on whatever platform you use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgMdqU-eg9s
Dues payment reminder
Thank you to everyone who has already paid dues, we’re off to a good start and able to support the beer and pizza fund. For those of you that still have to pay, please do so at your earliest convenience. (ncreten@gmail.com)
