Cedar Clubbers,

Before I get started, I don’t want any TLDR responses.  Read this.

I’m very excited to announce we have an overbooked tournament, including a 16 team men’s and women’s draw with a sizable waitlist for both.  I’m equally excited to say that The Cedar Club will serve as the main host site for the event Saturday night.

I want you all to know that unlike some others, I put The Cedar Club FIRST, so there will be no interruption to open paddle this Saturday.

The men’s draw includes many of Cedar Club’s own, Eric Arvold and Mike Deam, CJ and Travis Murphy, Katzban and Kasner, Me and MJ, Drew Lied and Caio Barros (Town Club pro).  The draw also includes four top 50 players in the country including Vuk who is a Cedar Clubber on brief hiatus from full membership, and highlighted by #14 in the nation, Andrew Ong, who just took 5th at Charities.

What I could use help with from you:

  1. If someone Saturday could blow the leaves, general cleanup, that would be great.
  2. I’d love a pile of lawn chairs and crappy blankets. Put some painters tape with your name on anything you bring to the club. We are expecting around 70-80 people. So additional seating would be nice.
  3. Drone footage. Free beer is your payment. Give me a ring if you can help out, 414.791.5560.

FYI on the tournament, when the draws get posted (Thursday) you can see them and match results as they come in here:https://www.platformtennis.org/event/milwaukee-open-men-s-nrt.  Temp draws are attached as an FYI on when and where matches are scheduled.

The morning matches are played at Town Club, MCC, and University Club. Consolation matches will continue there, but the main events after lunch will be at The Cedar Club!

Cedar Club Plans

  • The women’s Quarter Reprieve draw begin at Cedar at 1pm (teams who won first, but lost second match).
  • All quarter reprieve finals are at cedar, women’s QR semi is as well.
  • All main draw semifinal and final matches will be played at Cedar Club. This will honestly put your head in a pretzel.
  • Dinner (let the players eat first please) is at 5pm. There are plenty of pizzas in the freezer, not really sure how the food quantity will work so please respect that this is really for the players, but help yourself if its looking like there is plenty to go around.

Everyone is invited to come out and watch, heckle within good taste, mingle with the out of towners, wear Cedar Club gear, if you have a green jacket, put that dusty thing on. The Cedar Club is famous not just for the garage, but for the atmosphere, so bring it.

IF YOU COME – and this goes for those of you at open paddle in the morning (move your car when the limo arrives), you need to park at the Ascension Medical Center, 0.5 mi east. The Cedar Club Limousine will run continuously from 1pm till whenever. If you ever wondered what it was like to be cool in 1994 this is your chance.

All kidding aside this is a big deal.  The goal is to pull off a good tourney and build it up next year, and the atmosphere at The Cedar Club is the selling point.  If you have any interest in the sport, improving, or partying at cedar, you’d be an idiot not to come out.
