Hello to all of our Wisconsin Platform Tennis enthusiasts and competitors.  At long last, we have some good news.  The past year has been one of the craziest years ever.  We will never be able to make up the lost year and the 2020 Wisconsin Closed will be recorded in the books as a DNP (did not play).  Up until a week ago, we were about ready to give up on this having the tournament this spring.  We are pleased to announce the 45the Annual WISCONSIN CLOSED Platform Tennis Tournament will be played April 17th & 18th at area clubs, The Town Club will be the host site.

We will host the following draws:

Women’s OPEN

Women’s B

Men’s OPEN

Men’s B

If you are unsure if you should sign up for OPEN or B, feel free to reach out to us.  Typically, the OPEN draw is for the top teams.  The B’s are on their way up… or down.  No matter where you sign up, you will eventually seek your own level.  You are guaranteed 3 matches.  That is the beauty of a paddle tournament.  The tournament is CLOSED to Wisconsin residents only.

Our plan, depending upon the size of the draw, is to start play for the for the Men’s Draws on Saturday morning.  We plan on starting the Women’s matches late morning on Saturday.  We will have a lunch at The Town Club Paddle Hut area.  This year, we are scheduling the Women’s Final on Sunday, April 18th at Noon, the Men’s final after the Women’s Final.  The Men’s B & Women’s B Finals are tentatively set for late afternoon at The Town Club if we have enough courts available.  IF not, those finals will be played on Sunday afternoon.

This years tournament will be run by the Wisconsin Platform Tennis Association, Brett Smith, Scott Pecor, Town Club Paddle Pro Caio.  Rusty Long will be running the tournament desk.  IF you are not playing, we could use hut captains Saturday morning & afternoon for Cedar Club and a floating captain at Milwaukee Country Club & University Club (Tripoli).  Reach out to Scott if you would like to help.

To enter, please email Scott  or Brett with your team.  We will have everyone pay the day of the event.  Town Club Members will be able to charge their fees to their account.  The cost of the tournament is $ 50 per person.  Due to the late signup period, there will not be favors.  We will have beer & soda at the host site.  Sign ups are due by WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14th at 6pm.  We will be doing the draws Wednesday night and post the draws on Thursday.  We will post everything on our Milwaukee Area Platform Tennis Facebook page.

I do need to give a shout out to The Town Club Board.  Brett & I were resigned to that fact that without the Town Club courts, we couldn’t effectively run the tournament.  Thank you to the Town Club Board for stepping up and hosting this event.  We could not have done this, without you.

Thank you to everyone for your help.  For those of you that the weekend does not work out, we are sorry but we didn’t have any other options to get the tournament done this year.
