All,

Welcome back to the Paddle Season! Time to reconnect with your winter friends so let’s get it kicked off right with a great Thursday night.

First off, thank you Einhorn, Martin (who shall henceforth be named MVP – Martin Vertacnik, President, get it?) , Schmeeds and Brogan for managing the new member / ranking / schedule process. Not a well oiled machine quite yet, but we got it done. The club roster is full, having turned several people away, so consider yourself lucky to be here. Let that also serve as a warning to respect the club or you’ll be replaced with someone who will.

A word from the Prez Mr. Vertacnik (he’s busy and I’m basically his assistant): Thanks to all who came out to clean up the club house

  • Inside is decluttered and looks great – (DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SH!T AT THE CLUB) If 85 guys leave stuff imagine the mess.
  • Jean Michael and his crew are responsible for the deck and new fencing, thank you sir!
  • New deck looks great! Should we stain it? IDK.
  • Felbs Brogan Arvy and Doc Lucke painted the new fencing around the fire pit. Sweet.
  • The courts have been re-leveled from below and pressure washed from above. We have the best courts in the state right now.
  • Many more supported the cleanup and we all have a better club because of it. If you couldn’t make it, you have all season to contribute in your own special little way.

Why come out tonight???  Two Main Matchups:

  1. The Brewers take on the Mets in a winner take all game 3, starting at 6:08. With two TVs, a great sound system, dice and cards, there is no better place to watch. Certainly nowhere more economical or social.
  2. As that comes to a close, you will have the top 4 players (according the Schmieding’s Highly Intuitive Technological (S.H.I.T) Ranking System) battling it out on Court 1.
    1. Brock Zipp vs. Mamalat and Lied. The old guys vs. young guns.  Experience and patience vs. two of the most talented racket players at the club. A fun dynamic to watch.

I trust Einhorn will be setting lines and taking bets on the match, as he is also battling it out on court 2 tonight.

In case you missed it and need some player background before placing your bets, check out Drew’s Power Rankings…a nice addition to the Cedar Club banter that we can look forward to every month. Some join Cedar Club for the social atmosphere, some join for the workout, some are just here for the emails, myself included.

Speaking of new members, let’s welcome…

  • Andrew Bayliss, the prodigal son of CC returns from his pickle oasis at The Villages retirement community in FL. Once the best the club had to offer, both in talent and keeping my ego in check, he starts the year at 5. How disrespectful! Or so it seems…
    • In his first match of the year Andrew (5) played with Murphy (10) against Aiken (6) and Teddy (9), notching a loss. Not willing to go home a loser, he hopped in the 8:40 to play with 45, against 37 and 40. Highly questionable behavior the board will be reviewing. He managed a victory, but STILL LOST POINTS, a reminder that the S.H.I.T. rankings are not to be argued with. In my eyes, he’s 0-2. Welcome back.
  • Dusan (Deuce) Medan
  • Jeff McLean
  • Greg Anderson
  • Jeff Sergent
  • Andrew Sattler
  • Glenn Graves
  • John Kasner
  • Zander Dunn
  • Kirk Thode (big debate on pronunciation)
  • I’m sure a couple more.

We’ve added great players and people to the club, improving the ladder and social atmosphere. We take both seriously. Mess with either and be prepared to be messed with.

So come one, come all and get the 2024/25 Season started right.

(Email sent to all league players. Should’ve gotten this email out days ago, usually I’m a bit more on top of things, will be better in the future.)
