Paddle people –
I wanted to give you a heads up on the upcoming tourments so you can get your permission slips in order.
The Fall Classic will be Saturday, December 9th. This is an A/B tournament that starts at 8 AM and goes until we are done (last year ended around 6:30). There is a draft for your partner, and you are guarenteed 2 matches. There is a consolation draw. Matches are 2 out of 3 sets in the main draw, and a 10 game pro set for the consolation. We try to play as much as possible at the Cedar Club. Ask around if you are new…. A good time is had by “most”.
The charity event which includes players from all over the state is Saturday, January 6th. There were 92 players last year, and the tournament raised over 20K for the charities.
SMACK is on Saturday, February 10th. This is another A/B tournament with 32 teams. You pick your own partner. Some say it is the best day of the year. It is run by Nick Curran, and he will send out more details as we get closer
The Club Championship date is not yet set. I need to check spring break schedules as well as the date for the State Closed to make sure there is as little conflict as possible.
We are going to add an additional tournament this year. It will be a Ryder Cup style tournament with 2 team captains. There will be flighted matches where you will play 2 matches within your flight that you set up on your own between January 1 and January 19th.
On Saturday, January 20th, we will all get together, and captains will set their lineups for 2 rounds of matches. More details to follow on this.
Open paddle is off to a good start. We have had 16 and 22 people attend the first 2 weeks. We start at 10 AM and it goes to about 12:30. We have had players ranked from #1 to #75 show up, so this is a chance to play with a wide variety of people.
