“I’m really sorry.”

When it comes to a sports jinx, everyone knows that you don’t want to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, you don’t need Joe Buck to claim that you’re on a hot streak and you certainly don’t want to casually claim a Brewers playoff victory to your wife via text to stall for more time at the Club.

“She wanted me to come home, I had stayed late, the Brewers were up 2 with 2 outs to go… I said I’d be home soon.” said Mike Farley, the self-professed Consolation King of the Cedar Club and resident Web Czar.

But that’s NOT what he texted to her query, “Are u finished?”

“WHEN BREWERS WIN…”

And so the curse was set, despite the confirmation from Drew Lied that the Brewers chances of winning at that very spot in the game were at 94%. “I never said that,” lied Lied.

Dan Einhorn, just a second before the text, could be seen making love to the corner big screen after a Devin Williams fastball missed strike by Pete Alonso. Then Farley set the dominos in motion and the rest is an excrutiating October baseball tragedy. In the top of the 9th, with 2 men on and 1 out — just a double play away from advancing the playoffs, Alonso, first baseman for the New York Mets, hits his first opposite field home run ever — to put the Mets in front 3-2 and go on to win 4-2, knocking the Brewers for the second year in a row, out of the MLB playoffs.

It was later learned that Farley, subbing for Chad Bolliger, had lost his paddle match on Tuesday of this week, as well as getting crushed 1-6, 1-6 just moments before his meddling in national sports affairs last night.

A literal one-man wrecking crew.

“I don’t know what I was thinking. To all of Milwaukee, to the Brewers fans and to my club brothers, all I can say is I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”

It better not.

(Video below) Just prior to the fateful pitch by Brewers star reliever Devin Williams… Farley sends his jinxed text to his wife. This secretly obtained “smoking gun” leaves little doubt about Farley’s guilt in the matter.

Farley slithered out of the garage while everyone was dumbstruck, mouths agape at a TV screen wondering how this impossible turn of events could have happened.

And now you know.
